What is a cloud exit strategy?
- [Instructor] One of the most common mistakes that's made when migrating an application to the cloud is failing to come up with a cloud exit strategy. Now, what's a cloud exit strategy? Well, simply put, a cloud exit strategy is a plan for moving the workload or its data back on premises, or in some cases that could even mean moving that workload or the data to a different cloud. Now, why would you want to do that, especially given that there's so much effort involved in moving the application up to the cloud in the first place? Well, there are any number of reasons, but the important thing to think about is that a cloud migration should never be considered to be permanent, even if you intend for it to be permanent. And the reason for that is that there's always the possibility that something could change in the future, forcing you to move that workload out of the cloud. For example, the cloud provider may no longer support the workload, or it might become cost-prohibitive to run…
