- You may think you need a degree in math to understand post-quantum cryptography or PQC, but that's not the case. PQC is the term used for cryptographic algorithms that are designed to be secure against attacks by quantum computers. The algorithms in use before the introduction of quantum computers, such as RSA and ECC, can take a lifetime to break. Now, I've seen projections like a million or a billion years to break, but quantum computers with Shor's algorithm cut that timeframe down to minutes or hours at most. Here's how it works.
