- You've just figured out all this data, crafted some great ways to present it, and have a great story ready to go. And while you may be buried under the end-of-month reporting, don't let your data conclusions get buried. We get so down in the weeds and excited about the data points we figured out, we got it, right, that we were rushed and overloaded with work and our boss asks for the decision, we just blurt out numbers. But remember the ask. Your manager just wanted to know the budget for next year. He didn't ask you how we performed the budget this year, what unexpected expenses emerged, let alone ask for the line item detail of everything that would make up next year's budget.
