- [Instructor] So when Revit steps a footing, it doesn't quite do it right. It's cool that it does do but something it's certainly missing. From time to time, Revit's going to miss some small detail that you'll need to do yourself. This is where having the ability to create a family comes into play. There are two different ways to create a family. One is to actually start with a Revit family template. You create the family and you load it into your model and you're done. The second is to physically create the family right in your current model. This is called an in-place family. The objective of this video is to create an in-place family. In Revit under Models, let's go Open. I'm going to select 03_06_InPlace, then click Open. Let's go to our south elevation.
