How do you create and maintain a YouTube channel?
- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington, and welcome to this course we'll be exploring in the creation and management of a YouTube channel. There's a lot to cover, and we've got many different areas to look at. In order to succeed in this course, you're going to need to master many different skills, and often they're interconnected. Adding to the complexity is that YouTube is frequently in transition or will just simply change things. I suggest you remember that change is inevitable and Google will continue to add and subtract features from YouTube all the time. So what exactly are you going to learn? Well, we'll start things off by making sure you understand what a YouTube channel is and what you can do with it. What are the benefits and what are some of the potential things you need to keep an eye on in order to succeed? We'll also take a look at your Google id. This is what you use at an individual level to control your access to properties like YouTube, as well as other sites like Google Photos, Google My Business, et cetera. We'll then set up a Brand Account, which will allow multiple people to participate in your Google Properties, particularly the YouTube channel, and it's much better than trying to control things by sharing a username or password. Then we'll walk through the process of creating a channel, as well as how to use multiple brands if necessary. I'll make sure you understand what you need to create the channel artwork. These are the graphics that are used to brand your page and videos to help establish who you are and to create some reinforcement about other services or your identity. We'll walk through how to make your content easier to find and be discoverable. This will include things like annotations and captions, as well as adding detailed descriptions and keywords. We'll also share practical advice on how to engage with your community, taking advantage of the built-in options so you can really interact with each other. And we'll cover the strategies for going live, the essentials of using the live streaming control room, and how to connect hardware to your YouTube studio. Finally, we'll explore the YouTube partner program, talking about what you need to do to become eligible and what sort of benefits you can unlock. Now, frequently in this course, we'll introduce a concept or a technology in one section that will affect another section. Because of this, I strongly encourage you to watch this course in a linear fashion from beginning to end. I know there's a lot of content, but if you jump around too much, you might find yourself confused or missing key information. Of course, once you understand the big picture, feel free to revisit any of the movies that you need from time to time to brush up on a skill. Maybe you want to revisit keywording or how to use AI to make your channel better. Well, we'll cover all of that. Okay, we've got a lot to cover, so let's go ahead and jump in and explore what it takes to make a successful YouTube channel.
