- At the Santa Barbara Zoo, one of our core values is fun. We often refer to it as our prime directive. But what does it really mean for an organization to say it values fun? Or if I said it another way, what does work look like when employees are valuing fun? We certainly have a lot of fun at the zoo, but not without effort. We've taken intentional steps to translate our values into practices, and we've created space for employees to practice having fun in particular ways that still fall within their normal work routine. Now, at your organization, you've likely identified values that you feel are important, and you want to instill those values across individuals and across teams, and it can be really challenging to do this right.
