- I used to think meetings were a total waste of time. In fact, headlines, podcasts, and a variety of famous entrepreneurs celebrities would agree. Meetings take too long and they accomplish too little. I used to agree, but now I'm not so sure. As an executive, I still have work that depends on just me and getting that work done in a day choke full of meetings, it can feel impossible. But as an executive, I also have direct reports, and there're teams depending on my support. To support effectively, I have to know what's going on. Not all the minutia, but enough context and framing to lend meaningful support. It's my job to be an effective sounding board and to help my direct reports reframe their challenges into a full zoo context.
