- Let's start with the basics. A team member's focus is usually task-based. Make this, clean that, serve this customer. A shift leader's focus shifts to people and flow, and there are three key responsibilities that really set you apart. The first is credibility and role modeling. You set the tone. If you are cutting corners, guess what? Your team will too. If you stay calm under pressure, they will follow suit. Your credibility is built in the small moments, not big speeches.
