In this video, you will learn what logarithmic differentiation is, how it works with implicit differentiation, and how to calculate derivatives using this method. There are some cases where taking the derivative of a function is too complicated using the traditional techniques you have learned so far, for example, if the derivative is a product of multiple functions, a complex quotient, or a function with variable bases and exponents. This is when a technique like logarithmic differentiation can be useful. Logarithmic differentiation is the process when you simplify a derivative using logarithms. In this process, you take the natural logarithm of both sides of the function, and then apply implicit differentiation.
