Factoring is a technique used to simplify expressions. The way it accomplishes this is by rewriting the expression to cancel out any common factors. This method is needed when you try using direct substitution, but you get an indeterminate form as the result. The goal is to use this method to change your expression into an expression you can properly calculate a limit for. So what is an indeterminate form?
