Structured routines using Kata

- [Instructor] Kata are structured routines that you practice deliberately, especially at the beginning, so their pattern becomes a habit and leaves you with new abilities. In Japanese, the term kata means patterns or routines. Toyota translated this idea into management thinking in routines that fuel continuous improvement. Toyota kata includes coaching kata and improvement kata, which uses target condition thinking. Kata are small routines practiced by the leader to a level of perfection. Coaching is still coaching, however, everything revolves around consistent and repeatable processes. That is the effectiveness of the system. The logic behind kata coaching is the implementation of a scientific approach that allows virtually any challenge to be met, because the coach and the coachee practice this in a routined and structured manner.
