- [Instructor] Before we can do storage planning, we need to understand our core storage requirements. This is typically what you think it would be, such as amount of storage needed, such as five terabytes, for example, type of storage needed, such as primitive storage services, object, block, and file, or higher level data storage systems, such as databases, storage performance needed, or what speed do they need to support. Finally, use cases, or how will the storage system be used? The amount of cloud storage you may need is pretty easy to figure out. We're looking at a few key data points. First, the amount of storage we think we need within our storage systems initially. Then how much growth we will experience over time. For example, let's say that we're supporting an inventory control application and it needs to support 20 terabytes of data in the first year. Then we can estimate a growth of three terabytes a year,…
