DHCP options
- [Instructor] In our previous video, we took a look at the four step process of DHCP handing out IP address information to a DHCP client. Now in this video we want to take a look at some of the DHCP options, and talk more about how DHCP information is handed out. One thing I would want you to know is it doesn't have to happen entirely randomly, we may set up a MAC reservation, for example, maybe there's an office printer, and everybody points to the IP address of that printer, but that printer gets its IP address via DHCP. What if that printer was turned off, maybe over a weekend, Monday morning somebody turns it back on and it gets a new IP address. Suddenly all the PCs in the office are trying to print and it's not working because the printer has a different IP address. We can prevent that type of thing from happening by setting up a MAC reservation. We could say this MAC address of the printer in our example is always…
