(ethereal music) - [Instructor] In this video, we want to take a look at how we can manually assign an IP Version 4 address to a client. And specifically, we'll take a look at how to do this on a Microsoft Windows client, as well as a macOS client. But first, let's ask why we would want to do a manual assignment when we could do it dynamically. Well, if we have a device like maybe a server, or a router interface, or a printer that lots of people are using, we've got these devices that might need to have a consistent IP address. In cases like that, we might want to manually assign an IP address. And by the way, if we were using an automatic assignment method, like a DHCP, the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, there is a way to say, "This device or this MAC address of this device is always going to be assigned this IP address." But in those instances where we need a printer, let's say, to have a consistent IP address, it might be easier just to manually assign it to the printer. Or…
