(bright futuristic music) - [Instructor] Before getting into specific security threats, and how to protect ourselves against those threats. In this video, we're going to identify the three big goals of network security. And these three goals come together to form the CIA triad. The C in CIA is confidentiality. The goal here is to protect our private information. We don't want somebody getting in and looking at our financial data, information on our employees' research and development projects. We might want to keep those sorts of things private. That's the goal of confidentiality. And as a couple of examples of how we can help protect our data from this unwanted access, we could encrypt our data, we could use an encryption algorithm like AES, for example, the advanced encryption standard. We could also put different access control procedures in place where users have to authenticate to get access to data, or maybe we install a network appliance like a firewall to prevent unauthorized…
