Choose the right type of sales analysis for the job

- [Speaker] Have you ever tried to use a hammer when you need a screwdriver? In sales analysis, using the wrong type of analysis can be just as frustrating and just as ineffective. You can't answer every question using the same type of analysis. In this lesson, I'll share the four main types of analysis and when to use each so that when the time comes, you can choose the right one. The first type is descriptive analysis. This is the most basic type of analysis. It just tells you what happened. Descriptive analysis summarizes your historical data to tell you how much you sold, who your top performing sales representatives are, what your highest selling products are, or your best geographical areas. Tools like Excel, Google Sheets, and dashboards like the one I've shown you in Looker Studio are often used here. On the flip side, it can tell you when sales dip as well. For example, sales dropped 15% in the last quarter.…
