- If you haven't used WordPress to build an online store before, you may have made some assumptions about it that aren't necessarily true. So before we discuss all the things that WordPress can do, let's talk about what it can't do. WordPress in and of itself cannot create or ship anything for you. It's a tool that allows customers to order products that you already have or will make. Then you can continue to use WordPress for automations, like sending emails to those customers, collecting data, reporting, and a lot more. WordPress never ever processes payments. What do I mean by this? WordPress will take in the payment information, like through a form on the front end as you would expect to see, but a payment processor, like Stripe or PayPal, is what you need to use in order for that payment to actually be taken out of your customer's bank account.
