What you need to follow this course
- [Instructor] The goal of this course is to provide a quick and straightforward way for you to get a small business site online. In order to do that, there are a few things you'll need to follow along with this course. Let's take a look. For starters, we'll be using free software from WordPress.org. Note that there is a hosted platform called wordpress.com, but that's not what we're using for this course. Next, you'll need an account at the web host of your choice. A web host is where your website will live. This is a service you pay for either monthly or annually, and there are more web hosts out there than you can shake a stick at. And while I don't want to take focus away from this course to talk about all the web hosting options out there, I created this blog post for you with more information if you're interested. Next up, you'll need a basic understanding of how WordPress works. If you've never worked with WordPress before or if you need a refresher, I strongly suggest you check out the WordPress Essential Training Course in the library. Finally, you're going to need content for your site. This is the texts, the images, any videos you want to show, that sort of thing. So with your web host selected, a basic understanding of how WordPress works, and some content in mind, you're ready for the next step.
