- [Instructor] The cellular chip is the key difference between desktop and mobile devices. Mobile smartphones are as popular as they are because they can wirelessly connect. The presence and role of mobile carriers cannot be overstated when planning a managed mobile device program. Although carrier differences are constantly in front of us in TV commercials, building a flexible, active mobile program needs to consider all options. Here's a quick overview of the consideration of mobile service providers. First, coverage. It is important to ensure that carriers cover the geography where the devices will be functioning. Are the devices for your sales team? Then the carrier should be able to provide coverage for the sales team's entire area. Do you have specific geographic needs for remote areas?
