Working with real-world data
- [Narrator] When creating a budget tracker, it's important to consider two key financial perspectives, budgeted figures, which typically comes from planning and industry insights, and the actual results, which reflect real business activity. Before we build the smart budget tracker, we'll start by briefly analyzing a snapshot of data that I have on hand since this gives us valuable insight into how the business is performing and what we'll ultimately want to track. It will also serve as contextual information when we eventually build the budget tracker. Now, in your Exercise Files pack, you'll have a .png file, which contains fictitious budget data, and also actuals data for the Lakehouse Restaurant. Now, you might be wondering, how can we possibly analyze an image? Well, the truth is, today's AI tools are smart enough to handle a wide-range of file formats. Yep, including images. Let's go to the project homepage by clicking on the project at the top of the screen. And in a new chat now, upload the PNG file to the chat by clicking on the plus here, and the file you're looking for is called "data". And then let's go ahead and type the following. And yes, it's quite wordy, but we need to be quite specific in our prompting from time to time. I've uploaded an image entitled data.png, which contains budget and actuals financial data for the Lakehouse Restaurant. What insights can you tell me about the data? I don't want a deep analysis nor any visualizations. Just a brief text summary of the key metrics. Let's go ahead and click this icon here and we'll be away. Now, from time to time, you may see Claude pop up a an error message, such as the one that just appeared at the top right hand side of the screen. Sometimes it's only temporary and you can ignore it. Other times it's a temporary server issue and you may need to refresh the prompt request. Now, on this occasion, we've actually got the results that we were looking for. Let's just scroll down and have a look. Fantastic. Claude has quickly uncovered valuable insights that we can use to inform our budget tracker, particularly around the key metrics that we may wish to monitor. With these foundations in place, let's go ahead and move on to the next stage.
