Reflect weekly with AI for continuous improvement

- Time management is a bit like owning a house. Unless you clean it every week, it's going to get dirty very fast. Neglect it for a few months, and things will start breaking down, and life becomes very unpleasant. Here's the thing. People often don't like the idea that houses require regular cleaning, just like they don't like the idea that time management requires regular maintenance, as well. But, here's a reframe that might help. What could be more important than making sure your day-to-day life is organized in a way that fits your goals? What could be more important than making sure that the way you use your time is aligned with what you want out of life? And, that's the big picture that people often miss. The way you manage your time day after day adds up to a lifetime. It's about how you want to live your life, and that's probably not something you want to neglect. This is why weekly reviews, especially at first, are so important. Think of them as appointments with yourself to think about what you like and don't like about the way you spend your time. Perhaps you're unhappy with how much time you spend or don't spend at the gym. Perhaps you never have time for that book you're writing. All these things require fine tuning and maintenance every week or every month. But the truth is, when you do that by yourself, solutions are not self-evident. Sometimes, we have our own biases that prevent us from seeing patterns. We rationalize poor choices, blame external factors rather than our own systems, and overlook the same blind spots week after week. That's why AI is so useful here. You can essentially have a weekly appointment, not just with yourself, but with an AI that will listen to your concerns and propose effective solutions to adjust your time management system. And the fun thing is, today, you don't even have to sit at a computer to do that. Sometimes, you going on a walk and having a voice conversation with your AI brainstorming solutions and using it as a sounding board, can be illuminating. For instance, let me show you what this looks like. Here's what I might say to my AI during a weekly review. "I noticed I didn't make progress in my main quarterly goal this week, which is developing our new client dashboard. Instead, I spent most of my time responding to emails and in meetings. Help me analyze what went wrong and how I could structure next week differently." And, here's how the AI response might help. This kind of dialogue gives you specific actionable changes to implement, free from your own rationalizations or habits. So, try this. Schedule a 20 minute appointment with yourself and your AI this Sunday. Share your calendar from the past week. Explain what worked and what didn't, and ask for specific adjustments. Then, implement those changes immediately for the coming week. Remember, the small adjustments you make week after week are what ultimately transform your relationship with time and with your life.
