- [Narrator] Unsupervised machine learning focuses on situations where you're not trying to predict a target. It can be used on its own or combined with supervised machine learning. What does this mean in the real world? In finance, this can involve customer segmentation or pattern identification. In health, this can involve clustering of patients so that you have subpopulations that are targeted for care or communications. In retail, this could involve market basket analysis, where you identify what products purchases are associated with each other. And in the world of entertainment, this can include recommender systems where you use information about similarities in individual preferences and characteristics to make recommendations for movies, books, and songs.
