Defining B2C marketing
Have you ever peaked at someone else's social media and seen the ads they're being served. I bet it looks totally different than what's on your feed. The reason that you see the ads that you see is because marketers are very specific and intentional when creating their messaging and who they're targeting. In this lesson, I'll go over what B2C marketing is and what it is not. It is very easy to get business to consumer and business to business marketing confused. Business to consumer marketing is a type of business model geared towards individual buyers. The businesses, whether it's brick and mortar online or both, have something to sell and the consumers are the people, potential buyers of the products and services. As a marketer, the most critical part of B2C marketing is that it has to be direct, personable and specific. B2B marketing is business to business, where prospect of buyers are decision makers and stakeholders on behalf of the company and not individuals. When Microsoft promotes a new product on your social media, that's B2C. When Microsoft licenses software to Google, that's B2B. With a B2C ecosystem so robust, it's critical that you're part of the small percentage of marketers that are crystal clear on who they're serving. Once you master this, you're well on your way to being a successful marketing expert who can effectively reach their target audience.
