- [Instructor] In this lecture, we'll be talking about how you can perform resource optimization using AWS Compute Optimizer. At the end of this lecture, you'll be able to understand the importance of rightsizing to an organization and learn how AWS Compute Optimizer can help you reduce costs without impacting performance. All right, let's get into it. So what is rightsizing? Rightsizing is the process by which you resize or reconfigure computing resources to match your workload performance at the lowest possible cost. Let's make an example to understand rightsizing better. Suppose you have an application hosted in an EC2 instance, and you often see your CPU utilization at around 70%, even with minimal users, and you notice performance degradations, for example, when all your users are active, or your application performs a compute intensive task.
