Prompt engineering best practices
- Let's take a look at some best practices for prompt engineering. And our first best practice is to provide clear and specific prompts to lead to higher quality responses. And an example of this, if we were to take a generic prompt, tell me about climate change, but an improved prompt might look like this, explain the main causes of climate change and its impact on global sea levels. Another best practice is to experiment where you use different wording and structures to find the most effective prompt. So we might start with something like this. Summarize the attached financial report where one variation could be, summarize all financial statements in the attached financial report, or, identify and return all metrics that contribute to EBITDA in the attached financial report. And either of these might be more appropriate than the other, depending on the purpose of issuing the prompt in the first place.
