- Civil 3D is so powerful that the object relationships don't even have to be contained within a drawing. Let's see how this works in a collaborative environment. You can see that I've got three drawings open, alignment, surface, and profile and I'm currently in the alignment drawing. The next thing I'm going to do is set up a working folder for my collaborative environment. So, in the prospector tab of the tool space, I'll scroll down where it says data shortcuts. I'll right click data shortcuts and pick set working folder. I'm going to browse to the exercise files folder and then the chapter 2 folder. I'll select chapter 2 and then click select folder in the dialogue. The next thing I'll do is write click data shortcuts again and select new data shortcuts project folder. For the name, I'm going to type in sample project and simply click okay. And what that does is it sets up a folder where I can share information…
