- Auto Field is a powerful tool in Alteryx that helps automate the process of setting field types in your data. Here's how you can use this tool in your data analysis. We'll start by importing our data into Alteryx. We'll work with Sample Superstore data. You can find this in the Exercise Files. We drag over the input data, Set Up a Connection, select Files, and we'll select TIP 6 Sample - Superstore. We'll run the data to make sure it loaded perfectly. There we go. Everything looks great. Next, we're going to go ahead and find our Auto Field tool by navigating to the Preparations tab and selecting the Auto Field tool. We'll drag and drop it into the canvas here. In the Auto Field's Tool Configuration panel, you'll find a list of all the available fields in your data. You can either choose specific fields or keep all of these fields selected.
