- [Instructor] The process of 3D printing something starts with a 3D printable model. Most of the time, these models are created in one of the main computer-aided design or CAD software programs. As with most tools, you can probably use any CAD program to design almost anything. However, depending on what type of problem you're trying to solve, your life might be a lot easier if you use one designed for it. Not every CAD program supports 3D modeling. So first thing is to be sure you're looking at 3D CAD programs. In this movie, we'll focus on the types of 3D CAD software used by engineers, designers, and artists, and ones that are general purpose, not integrated into the workflow for any one machine.
