Reverse thinking
- A reverse thinking exercise, also known as reverse brainstorming or reverse problem-solving is a creative technique used to generate innovative solutions to a problem by approaching it from unconventional angles. Instead of focusing on how to solve the problem directly, reverse thinking involves considering ways to actually worsen the problem. By identifying potential causes or factors that contribute to the problem, individuals or teams can then brainstorm solutions to address those underlying issues. What's important here is to first clearly define the problem or challenge your trying to address. It could be a specific issue you're facing in your project or recurring problem in your organization. You then reverse the problem by asking questions like, "What could we do to make the problem even worse? What factors contribute to the problem or prevent its resolution?"
