- Another great tool is random word or object association. It stimulates new ideas, and here's how you can easily do it. You'll need a source of random words or objects. This could be a deck of cards. It could be a random word generator website or app. It could be a jar filled with slips of paper or any other method of generating random stimuli. If you're using a physical deck of cards, a jar of slips of paper, or another tangible source, just select one word or object without looking at it. If you're using a random word generator website or app, just click or tap to generate a new random word. Once you have your random word or object, take a moment to observe it. Consider its meaning, association, and potential interpretations. Think about how the word or object relates to your current creative challenge, project, or area of interest.
