Building a creative context

- Understanding personal creativity is first about understanding yourself, but it's also about understanding the environment around you. Let's start with the interactions you have with others at work. This can be as simple as greeting someone as you walk down the hall, making eye contact, and making conversation. Your goal is to maximize your experience of positivity while avoiding or reducing unproductive negativity. In general, positive emotions feed creativity, so we want to experience them and protect them. Okay, back to your interactions with others. Whether a particular interaction is avoidable or not, choose not to contribute to negative discussions or behaviors. So if you hear a conversation that is problematically critical, or you hear people engaging in unproductive rumors, simply don't take part.
