Initial context setup flow

Initial context setup flow

(bright music) - [Instructor] Let's dive into the initial context setup procedure that happens in 5G. And this flow includes three nodes we talked about: the AMF, gNodeB, and the user equipment. And the complete flow includes some logical stages such as context setup initiation, security mode, then capability exchange. And then, we'll take an example of a voice support check for IMS and see that how the context is established at the end of this flow. The first step is the NGAP initial context set up request, which starts when the AMF send this message to the gNodeB. This message includes a certain security-related keys and which is derived from the NAS security context. It also includes some, again, security-related capabilities precisely for the UE, which describes what encryption and integrity algorithms the UE supports, which is really important at the initial stage. It also has a NAS PDU, which is a registration accept message, which is unprotected at this stage. And this message…
