(bright music) - [Instructor] In 5G core network, there are different protocols that are present for the seamless communication between the different functions. One of that is the PFCP, which is packet forwarding control protocol. It operates on N4 interface between the SMF and the UPF. It is the protocol responsible for instructing the UPF how to forward the package, or it also takes care of the session establishment, like how to create, when to create, or delete, or modify the sessions. Also ensuring the enforcement of the quality of service. There is another protocol, which is NGAP, which is next generation application protocol. It functions over the N2 interface between the gNodeB and the AMF. It enables excess stratum signaling translation and mobility procedures. Its core capabilities include handover control signaling between the intra and inter gNodeBs.
