- [Instructor] In the last movie, we got an introduction to snaps and we saw some of the limitations that we can experience with 2D and 3D snaps. Specifically with 2D snaps, the object has to already be on the construction plane. With 3D snaps, objects will be automatically moved to the construction plane of the current viewport. And if I wanted to, for example, move these objects around and snap them in the top view without changing their elevation, I would not be able to use either 2D or 3D snaps. This is where 2.5D snaps enter the picture. So currently I've got 2D snaps enabled. I want to hold down that snap button and choose 2.5 and grab my move tool, select an object, and move it around. And now this is the intuitive result that we are going for all along. I am able to snap to the grid points or grid intersections in that top view without changing the elevation or the Z axis.
