Modeling with the Extrude modifier
- [Instructor] A modifier is a program module applied to an object that does something to the object. In this example, we will see the extrude modifier, and its purpose in this case will be to create some walls. I've got a rectangle primitive here. I actually need to convert it to editable in order to have an inner and an outer wall. I want to select that primitive. Go to the modify panel just to show you that it is a rectangle primitive with a length of 15 meters and a width of 10 meters. I need an inner and an outer surface for a wall, because if I just extruded this as it is, I would just get a box. And there would be really no point to that. So I need an inner and outer wall, and to do that, I need to convert to editable. Right click in the viewport, from the quad menu, choose convert to, convert to editable spline. And as we saw before, when we issue that command, we convert the parametric primitive into an editable object. We no longer have any parameters, but we have many, many…
