Our client was founded to radically improve spacecraft affordability and reliability, transforming and enabling next-generation space mission operations worldwide. Today, they are one of the most innovative aerospace companies, specializing in end-to-end customer solutions and the rapid production of spacecraft platforms. Their complete Space Segment Solution includes spacecraft production, payload integration, system integration & test, launch services, ground segment services, and mission operations, enabling customers to leverage their existing technology solutions to get to orbit rapidly and responsively. We’re looking to expand our team across the board.

Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their finance team based in their Greenwood Village, CO, office. You will have the unique opportunity to be the lead finance team member supporting our sister company based in Traverse City, MI. You will partner across functions to support their growth and success. This is a high-profile role, and you will be expected to progressively take on more roles and responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert on financial transactions in the ERP system (Oracle Fusion) and take the lead in implementing best-in-class accounting processes
  • Manage the full cycle accounting process for our sister company including:
  • Cash
  • Capital expenditures / Fixed assets
  • Accounts payable / Accrued expenses
  • Accounts receivable / Revenue recognition
  • COGS
  • Payroll accounting
  • Operating expenses
  • Lease accounting
  • Lead all elements of the financial close process to ensure a timely close including:
  • Preparation/Review of month-end journal entries
  • Preparation/Review of balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Preparation of variance analyses
  • Preparation of management reporting
  • Actively participate and contribute to all required audits, management & investor reporting, and tax filings so that they are completed by established deadlines
  • Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
  • Research accounting topics to provide guidance to team
  • Continuously find ways to improve departmental quality through creating efficiencies, streamlining repetitive processes, and utilizing technology
  • Perform other accounting duties and support finance team members as required or assigned

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Typical office conditions
  • Expected to work on site for at least 8 hours a day, Monday-Friday
  • Up to 15% travel from Colorado to Michigan

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or CPA license required
  • Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant, progressive accounting experience required
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Expertise in ERP systems required, expertise in multiple ERP systems a plus, ERP implementation experience a plus, Oracle experience a plus
  • Expertise in the use of Microsoft Excel and other software programs available to maximize efficiency required
  • Knowledge of accounting for a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Intercompany accounting experience preferred
  • Ability to prioritize workload, and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment with little to no supervision required
  • Ability to be self-motivated and able to accomplish tasks with minimal guidance required
  • Detail orientation and problem-solving skills required
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate successfully with people at many levels within the company required
  • Customer service attitude when working with people required
