Conversion tracking event types on LinkedIn

Last updated: 2 months ago

With LinkedIn Conversion Tracking, you can share your important customer actions with LinkedIn to better understand how your ads helped drive conversions. When you set up your conversion rule in Campaign Manager, you’ll select the conversion type that best describes the action your website or app visitors will complete from the Select the customer activity this conversion will track dropdown menu.

Important to know

We have reduced the types of conversion events you can choose from when setting up your conversion to help simplify your conversion creation process. Please note, existing conversions won’t be impacted by this change, which means they will keep their original conversion event type.

However, when you edit an existing conversion, your event type will be automatically updated to align with the new conversion types. We recommend you review your conversion event type when editing a conversion to ensure it aligns with your campaign goals.

Select Other if your conversion doesn’t fit any of the provided types.

Event type deduplication considerations

Consider the following when setting up your conversion events in Campaign Manager:

  • The Purchase and Add to Cart conversion types might trigger multiple conversion events from one member. If one member converts multiple times within the conversion window, we’ll count each of the conversion events.
  • Insight Tag and Conversions API and CSV conversions are not deduplicated for attribution. To avoid duplication, set up unique conversion events for Insight Tag and Conversions API and CSV conversions.
