Remove hold status from a LinkedIn Ads account

Last updated: 4 weeks ago

The most common reason for an ad account to be put on hold is due to a billing issue or missing payment method. The ad account billing admin can usually remove the hold in these situations by adding or updating the credit card information in Campaign Manager.

If your LinkedIn Ads account has been put on hold, ads won’t run while the account is on hold but will resume once the hold is removed. A red banner will appear at the top of Campaign Manager with the reason why your account is On hold and the recommended steps to troubleshoot.

Important to know

If your ad account is on hold due to a declined payment, the billing admin must re-add or update their credit card information in Campaign Manager to re-attempt the payment. If you continue to see declined payments, please contact your financial institution. Due to confidentiality, LinkedIn does not have access to your financial details.

Who can use this feature?

Only the ad account billing admin can add or update credit card information. If the current billing admin is unavailable, another account manager can assign a different billing admin. Credit card information must be re-added or updated after a billing admin change.

To remove an account hold due to a billing issue or missing payment method:

  1. Go to your ad account in Campaign Manager.

  2. Click Account settings on the left menu, then click Billing.

  3. On the Billing setup tab, click the Update credit card button in the How you’ll pay section.

    • If you’re adding a credit card to your ad account for the first time, click the Add payment details button in the middle of the page.
  4. Add your credit card information and click the Save and continue button.

    • If you run into any issues with adding or updating the credit card, try clearing your cache and cookies and repeating the process.
  5. Add optional tax ID information and click the Save button.

Important to know

After you add or update a credit card, your bank may place an authorization hold on your credit card for an amount up to $1.01, or the equivalent amount in your currency. The authorization hold will be removed from your credit card statement according to the policies of your bank.
