Under Article 18 of the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA), LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company must offer media service providers (MSPs), as defined in the EMFA, a means to declare that they meet certain criteria.

To be eligible for treatment on LinkedIn as an MSP for purposes of Article 18, eligible individuals or organisations should submit an email entitled "EMFA Declarations" to lera_ie@linkedin.com. Your email should include the following information:

  1. A declaration that you –

    a) are a media service provider as defined by Article 2(2) of the EMFA;

    b) comply with Article 6(1) of the EMFA;

    c) are editorially independent from Member States, political parties, third countries and entities controlled or financed by third countries;

    d) are subject to regulatory requirements for the exercise of editorial responsibility in one or more Member States and to oversight by a competent national regulatory authority or body or that you adhere to a co-regulatory or self-regulatory mechanism governing editorial standards that is widely recognised by and accepted in the relevant media sector in one or more Member States;

    e) do not provide content generated by artificial intelligence systems without subjecting it to human review or editorial control

  2. Contact details of the referenced relevant national regulatory authorities or bodies or representatives of the co-regulatory or self-regulatory mechanisms;

  3. Legal name and contact details, including email address, through which LinkedIn can communicate quickly and directly with you;

  4. Supporting documentation, if applicable.

LinkedIn will acknowledge receipt of the above declarations and confirm its contact details. LinkedIn will then review your submission and indicate if we accept or reject your declarations.

Please note that a separate email must be sent to LinkedIn for each natural or legal person who wishes to make declarations under Article 18 of the EMFA.
