Invitation limit reached

Last updated: 2 months ago

LinkedIn sets invitation limits to protect the overall member experience and ensure that connection requests remain relevant. Understanding these limits helps you avoid temporary restrictions and maintain trusted connections.

What are invitation limits?

Invitation limits are in place to prevent misuse and promote thoughtful networking. All LinkedIn members, including those with Basic and Premium accounts, are subject to these limits.

If you reach the limit, your account may be temporarily restricted from sending invitations. This restriction typically lasts one week.

What happens during a restriction?

  • You will not be able to send invitations until the restriction is lifted.
  • Withdrawing pending invitations will not remove the restriction.
  • You cannot buy or acquire more invitations while restricted.
  • LinkedIn cannot remove or shorten the wait period.
  • LinkedIn Support cannot disclose the type or reason for the restriction.

Important to know

Basic and free LinkedIn members can include a personalized message to five connection requests per month. LinkedIn Premium members can send unlimited personalized messages with their connection requests.

To ensure that LinkedIn remains a safe community, we recommend that you only send invitations to people you know and trust, in accordance with LinkedIn’s User Agreement and Professional Community Policies. By sending fewer and more thoughtful invitations to connect with others, you will improve the relevance of content shown in your feed, your search results, and your experience in using other LinkedIn features.
