Removal of inactive groups

Last updated: 4 months ago

LinkedIn groups are most valuable when they’re active, thoughtful, and foster meaningful conversations. To ensure members feel supported and engaged, LinkedIn may remove groups that remain inactive or unmanaged for extended periods.

A group is considered inactive if it has had no posts or engagement for 12 consecutive months. This includes:

  • No new posts or discussions

  • No admin activity (e.g., moderation, announcements)

  • No member interaction (e.g., comments, reactions, or polls)

To maintain a high-quality experience for all users, LinkedIn may:

  • Delete groups with no posts in the past 12 months

  • Restrict groups that remain unmoderated or inactive for a significant period

To keep your group active:

  • Post regularly to spark conversation

  • Review and manage content consistently

  • Encourage member participation through polls, updates, and comments
