Violating Tools

LinkedIn is committed to providing our members with a community that is trustworthy, professional, safe, and respectful. We’ve outlined what we mean by each of these values in our Professional Community Policies, and established guiding principles on how we maintain member trust. We also set up our User Agreement to transparently lay out our terms of service and help us establish a globally supportive community.
Part of being professional, honest & authentic, and relevant means not using unauthorized third-party software on LinkedIn. We don’t permit the use of any unauthorized third-party software in order to keep our members’ data safe and our website free from fraud and abuse.
We've found that in many cases, the objectives of third-party software makers do not align with our vision.
There are some third-party software applications that attempt to scrape data from LinkedIn, which is a privacy risk and can result in members’ information being used in unintended ways. Third-party software that automates tasks for you can also steal that data and export it out of LinkedIn; at times, without your consent. This is a violation of LinkedIn’s User Agreement, and may be a violation of privacy legislation in specific jurisdictions.

Please report third-party software being used on LinkedIn, and also submit a report if you have been impacted by another member’s use of third-party software. While we cannot give detailed updates on the outcome due to legal reasons, we do have a dedicated team that investigates every report.
