We're delighted to introduce our newest Board member, Shannon Williams-Zou. Shannon is a longtime educator, youth advocate, and equity-focused leader with nearly 30 years of experience in teaching, coaching, and school leadership. She currently serves as a coach and facilitator for the National Equity Project and lectures at UC Berkeley’s Principal Leadership Institute. “I’m honored to serve as one of Yu Ming’s parent representatives on the board. The first week of school is off to a joyful start! 🎉 20 new Transitional Kindergarten students and 170 new Kindergarteners joined our Yu Ming community 🎉 We officially opened our new Adeline Campus in North Oakland 🎉 Every campus got a glow-up from fresh paint to playground updates 🎉 We are nearly full staffed with new and returning team members A huge thank you to our incredible staff and families for stepping up and pitching in to get our campuses ready. Each year, Yu Ming hosts its Graduate Profile Defense, where 8th-grade students reflect on their nine-year educational journey in both Mandarin and English. In a master's-like defense, they demonstrate their skills and respond to questions as bilingual, global citizen changemakers before a panel of educators, peers, and family members.
