Limelight Hotels Boulder represents a bold evolution for the brand, transitioning from its mountain resort heritage to a fresh, community-driven model designed for the rhythms of university life. Nestled within the University of Colorado Boulder campus and Boulder’s lively “The Hill” neighborhood, the hotel bridges campus and community with spaces that feel both contemporary and rooted in place. In collaboration with Aspen Hospitality and as the first hotel operated in partnership with the University, WATG’s Architecture and Landscape Architecture teams envisioned a vibrant hub for students, locals, and visitors alike - a “living room” for the city. As a ground-up project, the design celebrates connection through a sunlit courtyard, rooftop pool, indoor–outdoor social spaces, and a lively lobby with a bar, restaurant, and kiosks. A key highlight is the Flatirons Ballroom, Boulder’s first 15,000-square-foot event venue with sweeping mountain views. Rising above a podium with five levels of guestrooms, the six-story, all-electric, LEED Gold–targeted building also restores a long-buried spring, which speaks to its commitment to sustainability. “The project offered an opportunity to reimagine what a lifestyle hotel could be in a university setting. It serves as a bridge, both literally and figuratively, spanning a buried spring and connecting campus to community. It is designed to become a vibrant part of Boulder, feeling both new and completely at home.” — Dan Patton, Studio Director, Architecture. WATG received two Merit Awards at the Singapore Landscape Architecture Awards (SLAA) 2025 gala held last Friday on 14 November 2025 for two projects in Vietnam: Hoiana Resort & Golf in the Hotel & Resort Landscape category, and Izumi Waterfront City in the Analysis & Planning category. These recognitions reflect the depth of expertise from our landscape, planning and design teams, and highlight how we continue to shape meaningful destinations across Asia Pacific. They also build on our eight-decade legacy of pioneering hospitality design and charting new trajectories for the industry. For Hoiana, this latest honour adds to its growing list of global accolades, including being named World’s Leading Fully Integrated Resort (World Travel Awards 2024) and one of the Best Integrated Resorts in Asia (Travel + Leisure). This year’s SLAA ceremony is especially significant as the Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects celebrates its 40th anniversary, four decades of leadership in defining Singapore’s landscapes and elevating the profession locally and internationally. #WATG #LandscapeArchitecture #HoianaResort #IzumiWaterfrontCity #HospitalityDesign #DesignExcellence #SLAA2025

The Future of Group Travel: Group and incentive travel continues to drive hotel performance worldwide, accounting for nearly 20% of global room-night demand. But the landscape is shifting. WATG Research’s 2025 Group Travel Sentiment Survey explores how remote work, rising costs, and evolving traveler expectations are reshaping MICE demand in the U.S. with a focus on Hawaii as a benchmark destination. The findings reveal a market balancing optimism with realism: • Incentive travel and luxury resorts are leading recovery, with more than half of respondents anticipating growth through 2026. • Budgets are under pressure, yet companies continue to invest in meaningful, high-value travel experiences that foster loyalty and connection. “As corporations and meeting planners continue to adjust to hybrid work environments, group business travel is under the microscope for its high price tag. Even under scrutiny, in-person meetings and incentive trips for top performers are now seen as talent attraction tools in a competitive job market. Showing resilience and a continued value placed on face-to-face meetings for meaningful connection and collaboration.” - Sam Coats, Research Lead. How can design harmonize with the raw beauty of a place? For WATG London's Landscape team, that question guided a six-day journey across Türkiye’s southern and western coasts, from Bodrum to local nurseries and coastal villages, to study the resilience and grace of native flora firsthand. The team worked closely with local experts and the client to craft a landscape vision that is both robust and refined, one that honors the spirit of the Aegean while ensuring the resort’s gardens feel mature, authentic, and alive from opening day. "Our team recently had the privilege of exploring a series of extraordinary sites across Türkiye as part of our work on an exciting new development. Guided by a client who truly understands the transformative power of landscape design, we set out to connect with the natural beauty and spirit of the region. We immersed ourselves in diverse environments, working alongside local nursery experts to study how native plants have evolved to thrive in a constantly changing climate, and how their resilience and beauty could inspire our design." – Karla Steele, Project Landscape Architect Explore the full story: https://hubs.ly/Q03SNXYK0 #WATG #LandscapeArchitecture #HospitalityDesign #Bodrum #SustainableDesign #ResortDesign

AI isn’t replacing designers, it’s becoming a creative partner. In our latest insight, The Future of AI in Architecture, we explore how artificial intelligence is transforming design, not by taking the reins, but by amplifying human imagination. Danny Caven, Global Computational Design Lead, and Max Bolton, Regional Computational and Digital Lead, discuss how AI tools are accelerating creativity, enabling bespoke data-driven intelligence, and ushering in a new era where designers create and curate. From AI-assisted concept iteration to data platforms and the rise of 3D-printed ornamentation, the future of architecture will be defined by collaboration between human expertise and intelligent technology.
