An excellent introduction to longevity medicine. To be clear, the goal is BOTH to prevent the development of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and dementia AND lengthen life expectancy. Research into supercentenarians (those who live past 110 years) shows that they are healthy, without these chronic diseases and then typically pass away quickly, ideally in their sleep. Science is teasing out the factors that allow supercentenarians to achieve this. It’s an exciting time to be working in functional / longevity medicine!

Genomics: How you can crack the code for your own longevity 🧬 In this video shot from the Amazon Rainforest – aka Nature’s Pharmacy – one of the world’s foremost longevity doctors, Dr. Timothy Cook, MD, FRCPC, MPH, LCol (Ret'd), CD, talks to us about the transformative health outcomes of longevity medicine. Two important terms for our onward journey together: 1️⃣ “Longevity medicine” is a burgeoning science and specialty. Science and technology are now able to identify (i) what’s causing ageing in an individual, and (ii) how to stop or reverse aging. The objective of longevity medicine is not only to help you live (significantly) longer, but also healthier and better. 2️⃣ Much of longevity medicine is designed around “genomics” – a highly personalized approach to medicine that analyzes our own markers of lifestyle, diet, exercise, and sleep, and identifies specific interventions, including supplements and vitamins, that are highly customized-based. Stay tuned and follow for more videos about (i) longevity medicine and (ii) genomics, and how it can help you unlock your keys to longevity. #Longevity #LongevityMedecine #Biohacking #Consciousness #TimCookMD #MingaLodge #AmazonRainforest
