For more than a decade, Captain Faith Flippo’s voice has been a cherished part of the Valor Awards, an annual moment that brings our entire community to a heartfelt pause. 💙 Her rendition of “God Bless America” has become a tradition we look forward to year after year, and we’re honored to welcome her back to the stage on December 10. 🇺🇸

Presented with honor, ceremonial Valor coins hold deep meaning. Each year at the Valor Awards, we also share these coins with the families of fallen First Responders as a symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and the lasting impact their loved one made on our community. 💙

Happy Halloween from Valor RVA! 🎃 Every year, we see kids dress up as firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and other heroes, and it reminds us that the spirit of service starts early. 👏 These costumes may be for fun, but they symbolize something bigger: courage, kindness, and the desire to help others. The heroes they’re pretending to be tonight are the same ones who inspire us every day. 💙

Our First Responders face the unknown every day. They suit up, step out, and go wherever they're called, even when they don’t know what’s ahead. Founded by the Retail Merchants Association (now InUnison) in 1989, the Valor Awards became the spark that ignited what we now know as Valor RVA. What began as a single annual celebration of courage has grown into a year-round mission, one that honors and supports First Responders long after the applause fades. Today, Valor RVA carries that legacy forward by funding mental health initiatives, wellness programs, safety training, and critical equipment, ensuring that those who protect our community have the resources they need to stay safe, strong, and supported.

For them, it’s never about the accolades or recognition. It’s about answering the call, showing up, and putting others first— every single day. For us, it’s about gratitude.
