“Runtime security is on the rise and for good reason,” says Jiphun Satapathy, SVP & CISO at Medallia, in our latest CISO Firechat with Rinki Sethi.
For CISOs navigating fast-moving cloud environments, static signals aren’t enough. You need to see what’s actually happening, right now in real time.
Jiphun outlines three priorities for securing your runtime reality:
1. Identify which vulnerabilities are exploitable and help dev teams focus on what matters.
2. Understand how quickly an attacker could escalate privileges and track your dwell time.
3. Lock down credentials. They remain one of the most common entry points for compromise.
“Real-time detection is only useful if you can respond in real time.”

Security alert fatigue is real. We found a better way.
For years, security tooling meant floods of alerts without context. Engineers couldn't distinguish truly exploitable vulnerabilities from noise, making comprehensive security the slowest part of shipping features.
Running a cloud-based data marketplace like Harbr Data requires understanding complete context - not just code, but infrastructure, service interactions, and data sensitivity across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Upwind Security's runtime-powered approach has been transformative, reducing alert noise by roughly 90% by focusing us first on exploitable risks. We now catch potential issues before they reach production. We've always been secure; now it's just faster and easier to know that with confidence.
Just as Harbr makes data access and sharing straightforward while ensuring governance, Upwind has made security clearer and more efficient. The easy path is now the secure path.
Thanks to Jonathan Chetrit , Yarin Pinyan , Artiom Petrov 🇮🇱 , and Amir Danilov for being exceptional partners who turn customer feedback into product features.

Another week, another round of events around the world. 🌍
In Madrid at the ISMS Forum’s 27th International Information Security Conference, Alberto Filisetti and Enrique Lopiz joined conversations around cloud resilience, sharing how real-time visibility and proactive defense can help security teams stay ahead of risk.
In Amsterdam, Jake Martens moderated a panel at Next IT Security, diving into the future of cloud security, regulatory trends, and what it really takes to stay resilient in 2026 and beyond.
Meanwhile in Dallas, Ben Engel, Chris Villanueva, and Matthew Mouton represented Upwind at Cyera’s DataSecAI Conference, where AI, threat detection, and secure cloud scaling were front and center.
Over in Arizona, Joe Cantieri ☁️ represented Upwind at the CAVA 2025 Tech Summit.
And at the Celtic Box during the Memphis Grizzlies game, Jack Fay and Ilya Wortman partnered up with Tines and Endor Labs for a great night of connection and courtside conversations.
Grateful for the conversations, the momentum, and the global security community showing up with real energy. These moments shape how we build. See you at the next stop. 💙

From chasing wind as a kid to finding his flow on the world stage 🏄♂️
We’re back with Cash Berzolla for Part 2 of his Road to Gold story, diving into what happens after the dream starts to take shape.
It’s not just about the thrill of wing foiling or the rush of competition. It’s about the grind, the early mornings, and the mindset that keeps you coming back for more.
Together with our Co-Founder and CEO, Amiram Shachar, Cash talks about what it really takes to stay grounded. The same traits that fuel a great athlete, passion, discipline, and consistency, are the ones that drive building startups too.

This past weekend, we teamed up with Endor Labs in Atlanta for something a little different: an evening of lightsaber stunt training with the AppSec community!
It was fun night connecting with engineers, security leaders, and builders who bridge the gap between development and defense. We swapped dashboards for lightsabers, learned a few new “defense” moves, and had a great time connecting with the community.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a memorable evening. 💙

We’re about to welcome a new type of “employee” into our cloud teams: autonomous AI DevOps assistants. 🤖
They can scale clusters, adjust IAM, call APIs, deploy infrastructure, and fix issues while we sleep.
Incredible.
Also… a little terrifying.
Here's a piece on what this means for multi-cloud security, why every agent is effectively a new high-privilege identity, and how Upwind Security's Open Source Security Model helps teams embrace this shift without losing control or slowing down.
Drowning in vulnerability noise? You’re not alone. There’s a better way.
Join us on December 3rd at 10 AM ET for a live webinar with security leaders from Madhive and Mendix as they share how they’re using Upwind to cut through the noise and focus on what’s actually exploitable, in real time.
We’ll break down how they:
• Identify runtime-exploitable risks across large-scale environments
• Prioritize based on business impact, not scanner noise
• Operationalize risk reduction with real-world workflows
