During the government shutdown, nearly 600 individuals and families reached out to United Way Miami for one-time assistance with food and housing. Our Senior Director for the Center for Financial Stability cross-trained the Community Impact team to respond quickly and provide support where it’s needed most. At United Way Miami, we are committed to standing with our neighbors, because when our community faces hardship, we face it together. 💙

Meet Scott 💙After retiring from the Coast Guard, Scott turned to #MISSIONUNITEDMiami for support. From food boxes to career coaching, he rebuilt his future and now empowers underserved youth through music. He also teaches the nation’s first college-accredited DJing course at Miami Dade College, inspiring students to chase their dreams. 💙 As Hurricane Melissa moves through the Caribbean, residents in Jamaica, Cuba, the Bahamas and Haiti are preparing for a potentially catastrophic storm, but they won't have to face it alone. In partnership with Miami Herald and El Nuevo Heraldo, we’ve activated Operation Helping Hands to deliver urgent relief to those affected. The storm poses a severe threat, bringing the potential for catastrophic flooding, destructive winds and life-threatening storm surge. Every dollar donated supports trusted nonprofits working on the ground in impacted areas. 💙 Together, we can bring relief, hope and recovery where it’s needed most. Let’s stand united in support. 🔗 Donate today to make a difference: https://lnkd.in/evFqfMtx #LiveUnited #StrongerTogether
