Deering, Milliken & Co. Communications Building – c. 1957 In the late 1950s, Turner completed the Deering, Milliken & Company & Co. Communications Building in Midtown Manhattan. Designed by Carson & Lundin, the project involved demolition of existing structures and construction of a mid-rise office building that reflected the modern architecture of its era. Clad in stone and featuring clean, vertical lines, the facility served as a communications and administrative hub for one of the nation’s leading textile companies. Stay humble, ask questions, and keep learning. 2️⃣ How has Turner supported your development? 📢 Through incredible mentors and peers who lead by example. While I learn a lot from my direct manager, I learn the most from my peers and the role models who’ve become mentors. Turner’s development partner model has been a huge asset in helping me navigate my career. 3️⃣ Coolest project you’ve been a part of at Turner and why? 📢 The University of Texas Hall of Fame, a museum inside the football stadium showcasing the university’s sports legacy. It was amazing seeing the project showcased on ESPN and witnessing the pride of the athletes whose accomplishments were displayed. 4️⃣ What’s your favorite local restaurant? 📢 1618 — great food, amazing atmosphere, and even better service. Filmland Corporate Center, Los Angeles – c. 1985 In 1985, Turner completed the 8-story, approximately 364,000-square-foot Filmland Corporate Center in Culver City, California. Designed by Maxwell Starkman Associates, the U-shaped complex occupies a full-block site and includes three levels of subterranean parking with terraced setbacks on every floor. The exterior features Balmoral and Crystal Rose granite cladding and windows of flat and curved solar-gray glass. A dramatic 10,000 sq ft sloping glass skylight, supported by a modular space frame, covers the landscaped atrium lobby. Interior spaces were tailored for the film industry with screening rooms, auditoriums, post-production studios, a media room, research library, and fitness facilities at the atrium level. At its opening, Filmland Corporate Center played a key role in Culver City’s entertainment-industry expansion.
