Patagonia’s new climate report is out, and we’re thrilled to see resale taking center stage in their climate strategy. With more than 212,000 items resold in FY25 alone, Patagonia is demonstrating the power of circularity at scale. What excited us most? How Patagonia envisions the future of this work: “We’re proud to have been early investors in Trove, which is now the apparel industry’s largest resale technology platform. Together, we’re working on a scalable and financially sustainable model that the entire retail industry can adopt.” As the report notes, 92% of apparel emissions come from supply chain and materials. Extending product lifecycles isn't just good for the planet; it's essential for meeting climate goals while building sustainable business growth. Grateful to partner with Patagonia and our growing family of brands making circularity the norm, not the exception. Rimetti in circolo i tuoi capi usati Rifò → https://lnkd.in/dF_-DBD5

A new report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) reveals that the global resale market is growing at 10% annually (3x faster than firsthand) and is expected to reach up to $360 billion by 2030. Here’s what really stands out: - 66% of consumers discovered or bought a brand for the first time through resale - Secondhand items now make up 28% of consumers' wardrobes - Affordability drives 78% of purchases The report highlights what we see every day working with leading brands like Patagonia, Arc'teryx, and Steve Madden: Secondhand extends product life, broadens brand reach, and reinforces long-term equity. The question isn't whether brands should engage with resale. It's how strategically they'll do it, and how soon. Want to join the resale revolution? Let's connect. #Resale #CircularEconomy #Sustainability https://lnkd.in/eQ4Nz--y

From Sabrina Carpenter's "Sabrina's Secondhand" pop-up to DVF launching DVF Vintage from her personal archive, celebrities are transforming resale from thrift culture into fashion's new luxury frontier. The numbers back it up: - Secondhand is now a $56B US industry, projected to hit $367B by 2029 - Secondhand is now a $56B US industry - The global resale market is projected to hit $367B by 2029 - 83% of Gen Z have purchased or are open to pre-owned apparel - More than half of fashion executives plan to launch in-house resale programs by 2027 What's driving this shift? Celebrities are reframing pre-loved fashion as both collectible and cultural. Carpenter wore a 1975 Bob Mackie bodysuit to the VMAs, originally designed for Cher and Tina Turner. DVF is selling pieces from her personal archive. Stylist Haley Wollens curated closet sales featuring Chloë Sevigny and Julianne Moore that drew "lines around the block." What began as fan-driven enthusiasm has evolved into a mainstream luxury strategy. Shopping someone's closet has become the most modern way to shop. Resale isn't just sustainable, it's cultural currency. Read more from Ethos: https://lnkd.in/eeactMwn #Resale #LuxuryResale #Sustainability

A new report from Cardlytics reveals a fundamental shift in fashion spending: - 62% of consumers have bought or would consider buying secondhand fashion - 18% plan to use resale platforms for holiday gifting While online fast fashion remains above 2022 levels, its growth rate has slowed dramatically, dropping to just 14.7% in 2024. The shift is clear: consumers are voting with their wallets for more sustainable, value-driven alternatives. Black Friday is also "blurring." Only 11% of shoppers focus their purchases on Black Friday/Cyber Monday itself, with spending now spreading across the entire season. Nearly one-third (30%) complete their holiday shopping before Black Friday even begins. Resale has transitioned from a trend to a core growth strategy. Brands that recognize this shift will win the Golden Quarter. Read the full FashionUnited analysis: https://lnkd.in/e3uTGs4f #Resale #SecondhandFashion #Sustainability

While luxury brands have seen flat demand for six consecutive quarters, secondhand is thriving. Leading resale platforms are growing at 10%+ while their traditional retail counterparts remain stagnant. The shift: Consumers aren't selling old to buy new anymore. They're staying in the circular economy. Gen Z luxury spending dropped 7% in 2024. The impact: Shoppers now check resale values before buying new. Top luxury brands retain 89% of their value in resale, creating clear winners and losers. The opportunity: Resale platforms are becoming trend forecasting tools. When vintage handbag prices surge in the secondhand market, smart brands take notice and reissue popular designs. The secondhand market hit $56 billion in 2024, three times its size from a decade ago. At Trove, we're building the infrastructure that makes this circular future possible. Branded resale isn't a threat to retail; it's the next revolution. Brands that embrace circularity, partner strategically, and meet consumers where they are will define the future of luxury. The future of luxury is circular, and we're helping brands get there. Read the full The Wall Street Journal analysis: https://lnkd.in/e2VbDMPM #LuxuryRetail #Resale #CircularEconomy
